There has never been a better time to be a small business with big ideas.

For years, proper marketing was a big-company sport, you needed a copywriter, a designer, an ads person, and a budget with a comma in it...ekk...now? ... that era is over! Right now, today, a one-person business can draft a month of content in an afternoon. Run ads on £10 a day that find the exact people who need them. Turn a rambling voice note (just me?) into a week of posts before the first coffee. Do market research that used to take a consultancy a fortnight.

Does this sound a teeny bit familiar.. You write something thoughtful, funny, a dash of insight, hit publish, sit back and… ahhh. Then… ohhh. Four likes. One of them is your mum.

And that's before anyone mentions ads ("ekkk, tech"), email lists ("one day"), or AI ("apparently I'm being left behind??") all the while eleventy-billion other jobs queue up behind them.

Here's the thing: none of this means you're bad at marketing. It means you're running a business, and marketing is a whole job — one I happen to love. So let's split it sensibly between us.
